Spam Invasion And What I Did

This is what I found in my blog....

Folks and pals, there has been a spam invasion on one of our older blogs.
They are being a bit sly and cowardly, to not put their junk in this current blog...
Petcretary has made it so that for now at least you will have to confirm you are not a spammer and only those who have valid ID's may comment. I have had about 30 spams in the space of about 2 minutes. Such a frustrating mess.
I reported this to Google but who knows when they will find my message...
Thanks for understanding.
Hope it will soon stop.

  1. I am so sorry that happened, I had contacted you about it when I first saw it, not sure if you got that email. Might be because that blog is sitting idle. catchatwithcarenandcody

    1. Yup, its idle, and I do not know how to add it too this active one, other than flashbacking each page to here, then deleting the idle blog. Yikes, sounds like work...sigh... I didn't see that email. Hmmm. Thanks for trying though. My inbox was going to crash if I didn't take care of it quickly.

    1. I have also changed the visible to search engines, for the 'inactive blogs and actaully rendered them as invisible but only visible to me. I might try that C/P feature, Tabbies:)

  3. I had to disable comments on Nellie's blog to stop the Spam over there. And I have set Marv's blog not to accept any comments that are made on posts more than 2 weeks old. I knew some of it was coming from Facebook mining (which is why I did not publish Marv's blog there until I got all my permissions straight).
And when I tightened up things on Marv's blog, some of our furrends posts went to spam...Its not much fun!

    1. Yes, I see that 'closed comments' when I come by belatedly, MOL! Serves me right, eh?!

When I got home from work this evening the spam bots from the same place had added a ton more. I made them all go 'poof'!

    1. Thanks, Dezi & Raena.

I do also get a fair amount of spam in my regular email, but my 'mailwasher' program can make them vanish, and i can read where they came from, and send them right back as undeliverable. But comments on my blog have to be handled differently...

  5. That is a nuisance. Blogger is usually very good at catching spam. I have comment moderation enabled for any posts over 2 days old.

  6. It looks like my comment disappeared!
Blogger is usually very good at catching unwanted comments. (I didn't use the S word in case that was why it didn't publish) I have comment moderation activated for anything over 2 days old.

    1. I want to kick them in their you know where to boot them off. I have now closed my inactive blogs to anyone but myself, that is a shame, because they held many fine posts that now are invisible. I might make them all regular features as flashbacks.

  9. we saw it... it was something written in a weird language and with ugly bikes.... I wish such spammers would get electrical shocks from their keyboards while hacking blogs...

    1. The ones today were all in arabic. At least when I c/p'd it into a translator app; it was something about trash pick up...hey.if he picked up trash he shouldn't have dumped it in my blog!
The one with the bikes is apparently someone who hacked into the same account via bloglovin, and those peeps are supposed to be trying to block him. I had to change the email associated with Bloglovin. ( not the same one as my regular.) Anyways now that I made the three idle blogs invisible and have comment moderation going on for this blog, I hope it stops. When its all clear I will put the blog back to regular commenting.
