In Loving Memory Of Katie Isabella

On Saturday, the well known and much loved by all, Katie Isabella, could no longer endure the pain and other health concerns, and she gained beautiful wings as a new angel at the Rainbow Bridge.

This was rather unexpected, as her mom and all of us thought she was improving, and none of us, let alone her Mom saw this coming. Of course her Mom Carole is devastated, and needs our support, the support that Blogville gives its members when they are feeling sad, (and yes, even in the good times).

So if you can please visit her blog, and leave your comforting messages, if you have not already done so.

These mementos were made to honor Katie's Memory.

Donkey was one of Katie's favorite toys, and so it is included in this image...

In Memory of Sunny (The Book Of Barkley)

Sunny, the beautiful Golden pup of LBJ from The Book Of Barkley, recently left for the RB after a short battle with cancer. Cancer is such an evil scourge...And what makes it even sadder is  that Sunny had only just turned three years young. I know her peeps are missing her so terribly right now.

Anyways this memento was made to honor her memory:

Sunny

Please take a moment to leave a comforting message there, They will all be very appreciated. (If you haven't already done so...)

All angels are aww-worthy so we are joining the Awww Monday blog hop.

Ussies At The Vet

We have to go where????!!!!
We had to go to our vet the other day, it was just a routine visit, thankfully, as voiced by petcretary, since she left a huge wad of green papers there, and that doesn't include the scripts for heartworm...sigh...

Oh well, we got checked over, had some lab work done, and all is well. Then we got poked and jabbed...and Dr Ben put some vile tasting medicine in our mouths, apparently to keep kennel cough away...we need that in case we have to be boarded at the doggy jail if *she* needs to go anywhere for longer than a night or two. We were good boys and didn't put up any fuss, and Dalton even gave Dr B a kiss, imagine that!

Dr Ben said that Dalton has lost several teeth, but that most of the remaining ones actually look good, and he said Benji's teeth look excellent. Hooray! We do get kelp on our noms, and a gel to our teeth every other day. And we recently got a nice big water fountain, from which we love to drink. Much fresher than out of a stagnant bowl, even though *she* cleaned it diligently and put it full of fresh water every day.. She says she refills our fountain with 4-5 cups every day, which means we are drinking more than with our old ceramic bowls.

We were happy to exit that place and go back home to our yard...

And we got some rain, not much as of this publishing, but some is better than none. Our grass is all crunchy and the trees are dropping leaves just as if it was October! We may get more as this day progresses...then none in the forecast till much later in the week. Oh well, dry weather is better than floods, or severe storms. And we won't grumble cause we have no fires right in our locale, nor earthquakes as we heard about from various places in the world. (Speaking of fire, we still have moderate amounts of particulates in the air, but the raininess should lessen them.)

Petcretary found a swallowtail butterfly in the grass, it seemed to be struggling, so she gently picked it up and put it onto a purple coneflower...where it sat for a LONG time. When she was finished with the yard duties, she went back to check on it, but it was gone, hopefully flown away. Later she found a viceroy...it too was not doing much, but since it was in the path of where we like to run along our fence, she picked it up too, and put it onto some nearby flowers. Later it was gone as well. She did an inventory of all the pictures of butterflies she has, (not including moths) and found several. Maybe they will offer to be volunteer guest selfies one of these days. Petcretary wants to get a picture of a black swallowtail, that she has seen flitting around some of our flowers, but was not fast enough getting the phone/camera out of her pocket. Now we know why she always says, she needs a phone IN her finger!

We want to get out of here NOW, petcretary!

A Special Weekend

Yes, indeed it is a very special weekend for our pawrents. Thirtynine years ago on July 25th, 1987, they said 'I Do' to each other and they were married!

Wow, that means that now they must be VERY elderly...BOL!

Anyhow, we pups are glad to be a part of their lives right now, and hopefully for many more of these kinds of occasions.

July 25, 1987 (Scanned images, sorry they are such bad quality...)

We made them a card, actually three cards, to help their celebration:

Here is the original 'ussie'

We usually do not care for AI, but in some instances it can do nice things for us, BOL!!

Anyways, the unfurbros took our pawrents out to dinner, yesterday...it was in a fancy restaurant, and the food was yummy! YUMMY they said, but sheesh, they didn't bring us any doggy bags??  We had better get some extra treats, right? Right!

In Memory Of The Peach Kitty

Recently The Peach Kitty was found to be unwell. He was taken to a vet but it was found that he had a very advanced illness, and was too sick to withstand treatment, therefore he was kindly helped to cross over to the Rainbow Bridge.

The Peach Kitty, or Mr Peach as we called him, had become a good friend of Summer, and lived a good semi feral life along with his mother, a tabby cat.

The Peach Kitty will be sorely missed by Summer and her human, along with a neighbor who also fed him and his kitty mother.

We asked petcretary to make this memento in The Peach Kitty's honor.

Ten Cigarettes A Day??

Wow, we don't smoke, nor does anyone in our family, but...well we might as well be doing that because that is what the air quality has been like around here. The 'authorities' told their viewers that the amount of atmospheric pollution was like smoking 10 cigarettes a day! YUCK! The reading was 391 for Friday, which is in the hazardous zone (any reading over 300). It has been very stinky outside. Therefore we can't even spend any meaningful time outside due to this bad  air quality. It's due to all the smoke and particulates we are having from the Canadian and some US wildfires. You can see the smog and haze, its awful. I wear an N95 mask when I go outside, even for a short time, I walked to and from my car, on Thursday when I went to my work, and I was wheezing for a good long time when I got into the building. (I didn't think for that very brief time outside I would need one, but I was wrong!)

Anyways we hope the predicted rains, and wind direction changes will help dissipate this smoke. Us pups seem to instinctively spend a lot less time going outside, we go just for potty times...or to bark at the chewy delivery that came to our den on Friday. BOL!

There was a brief rainshower on Friday afternoon, which helped to clear the air for a time, which allowed petcretary to go and clean up after us...and water any pots that didn't get enough water from the measly 1/4 inch or so of the rains.

We hope all those nasty and scary wildfires will soon be under control and that affected peeps will not loose their homes, which is far worse than just having bad air ...

And it is still HOT and very jungle like humidity to help with the very high heat indexes...what a summer! We are more than thankful for the a/c and the HEPA filter in that unit.

Not much else going on here this past week...no news is boring, but not a bad thing!

Anyways here are some image, recent, not flashbacks, but for sure not taken in the past few days of stinky atmosphere conditions.

Oh dear, she captured the digging evidence...
I sure hope all the bees visiting the clovers don't come after me!
Sharing the shade on a hot day...

Ujio
Spike was the beloved kitty , known as Spike the Scottish Black Cat, and Ujio was a darling pup, some of you may know him, there is no blog, but he was on facebook, and the links are there under their mementos, to add your words of comfort if you have not already done so, just click on the captions to go to their respective pages.

We are going to hook up with Awe Mondays, since both of these precious angels surely are awe-worthy.

Not So Tiny Guest And Ussies

We had buckets of rain the other day, made our grass grow...well...like weeds! The lawnmower was not happy with the thickness and left many clogs instead of mulching it. So soon petcretary will go over it again. And very soon, cause the weather is going to get very hot again. UGH! And humid, to make it even better...not!

Well she managed to get one more privacy panel up Friday evening, but the sweat was dripping off of her...so she will wait with getting the doubled ones on over it all. They help a bit at keeping all the barking down. Us pups CAN see through it, so we sit and watch for activity on either side of the house to have a bark. BOL!

Other than that, petcretary keeps busy with many other chores, it seems there are so many more in the summertime than in the winter. Fill the bird feeders, which they seem to eat way more of now, maybe because of all the cowbirds, starlings and grackles which are not there in the winter, and they all eat like pigs! Even though we have more than one hummingbird feeder, they are not around too much here, this year. And the bee balm which usually finds them all over it,  well they are not. Water the plants, esp the newly planted saplings...clean up after the doggies, pull out weeds...and so on and so on...always something to do, inside and out.

The snowball shrub ( Viburnum ), is either very stressed out from the dry and very hot weather we had recently...but at any rate it needs to be cut back or even dug out...which is a shame, it makes such a pretty sight every spring. I don't know if it is diseased, or has a bug/mold infestation, but it is for sure looking very sad. I will start with a severe pruning, and then wait and see if it comes back next year. A white lilac in the backyard has also seen much better days, so out that will come too. Arghhhh, smells like WORK.

Anyways, here is a moth I have not seen ever, in the 39 years we have been living here. It was quite large, and was on one of the may apple leaves.

Haploa lecontei
Well, we like to watch petcretary and snoopervise when she is outside with us doing chores...so she got these cute ussies of us...

We missed yesterday's All American Pet Photo Day, so we are showing flashbacks of MrJackFreckles,  Pipo & Minko being patriotic...afterall they were American born 'petizins'! (Images taken in 2010)
