Flashback(s) For St Patrick's Day

Petcretary has not had time to make new St Patrick's Day pictures of us...not that we care, BOL! She's been busy in the yard a lot, pulling up bittercress which is all over our yard, like an invader. While it isn't likely that she will eradicate it, she should be able to get control of it. Some of them already have flower buds on them. If they go to seed, the battle is won for them, but not for petcretary. She has declared war on all the nonnative plants in our yard, esp the weeds. (And she has all kinds of seeds she collected last fall to try to establish some native plants for the pollinators and other creatures)

Oh well, there is always stuff to do to maintain the yard...like Friday when the winds were so hard we were under a wind warning, for gusts from 50 - 60 MPH. And it rained and it snowed too, so that the snow wasn't falling as much as it was blowing horizontally! It all melted quickly though, but the winds stuck around. There were all kinds of power outages in our state, from downed wires and fallen trees. Thankfully here, only branches were strewn all over the place and a trashbin went careening through the yard, LOL! So petcretary spent a couple hours adding all the newly downed bits and pieces into the various wood piles.

Then later when she was back inside, and it was dark, all of a sudden us dogs went nuts, barking our heads off. *She* investigated and OMD!!! Our shelterlogic shed (Basically a frame with a shaped tarp over it), must have gotten dislodged from all the heavy wind gusts, and it was standing way far back in the yard. If it wasn't such a pain, to get it back where it belongs, it would be funny, too bad we didn't see it happen! LOL! (And of course even though her phone was in her pocket, she totally forgot to take any pics of this occurrence.)

Also, now the temp has gone down to below freezing again and there is about an inch or two of snow all over everything, including all the stuff that was in that little shed. At least the real shed which is right beside where the shelterlogic shed was, is unscathed!

Update at time of posting...Son #1 and petcretary got the shelterlogic shed back in place and re-anchored...hopefully it will withstand the next round of high winds, forecast for later today into Monday.

As if that wasn't enough to keep the camera out of her hands, she caught a virus of some kind...she got tested, and it is not Covid, thankfully. Seems to be just a bad cold, with plenty of chills, sneezing and sniffling. Hopefully she won't have to miss her workshift tomorrow.

Here is a picture of some Bittercress; It is not toxic, and it is edible...but we certainly don't need a whole acre full of it!

At least it isn't too hard to pull out of the soil. And no, she nor us, nor anyone we know of has tasted this plant. Apparently it can serve as a sub for parsley. Update at time of posting: We took in a few of these plants, and tried some of the younger shoots. They actually taste good, and *she* added them to a tuna salad. They are akin to the taste of arugula and even can be a sub for parsley.

Now for the flashbacks:Angels Pipo & Minko & MJF, ca2011.

This Ussie and the two selfies above were taken in March of 2019, Benji's first St Patrick's Day. How time flies!!

We are linked up with many other Sunday Selfies at The Cat On My Head who are our hosts each week. Thanks, Kitties Blue!
