We Conquered The Old Beehive!

Wow, this week went by way too fast!

Our tree man came by and cut down the two snapped off trunks, the former dead trees were hollow and the wild bees had made a hive in there many years ago, which was long abandoned, but you could still see where the honeycombs were. Those tree trunks snapped off during the storms in May, and while they were not going to be a fall hazard, the tree dude thought they should come down...so he did it! After he left and we were once again allowed outside we had to investigate everything back there...we climbed into the trunk laying on the ground...and smelled where the old beehive had been...but nobody was living in there anymore. Then we stood on the stumps and declared a victory over them...BOL!

You can also see in the pictures that the fence which was squashed from all the trees falling on it, has been repaired, Petcretary is thankful that she doesn't have to worry about us perhaps trying to climb over the fence to chase creatures on the other side...we didn't even try, but you know how our pawrents can be about that sort of thing.

We got a Chewy box...but the only thing in it was a pooper scooper! Sheesh! BOL! Hopefully the next Chewy box will be more exciting!

We had to be corralled out of reach of the kitchen...earlier this week, a guy came by to fix the oven...so now we can roast our Thanksgiving Turkey!

We've had a few nights of below freezing temps, so all the leaves are coming down very fast! Petcretary mulched them into the grass when she mowed the lawn. There are more still hanging on...but she didn't want to wait till they were all down, that would compromise the mower...which is a nice new one...

We are told in the forecast that there might be snow today and a few other days this week...sheesh, it's kind of early for that we say!

Yesterday, Benji was over at Teddy's Kitchen, helping to make a yummy bacon treat that would be good for a Thanksgiving treat...or anytime, actually! If you missed that you can go HERE to find it.

November 3, 2025 You can see how the huge mess has been largely brought under control, thanks to our tree man, wielding his huge chainsaw! And the repaired fence, too.

One gone...

Second one gone...and wow did it make a loud THUD!

I smell bees and honey...at least I think I do 😀

Those bees didn't leave me anything to nibble on...

I claim this stump as my throne...

Well, I'm the oldest, so doesn't that mean I get dibs on it??
We didn't allow petcretary to help us make an ussie on this stump...snickering!

  1. I'm sure that stump is going to create loads of fun and photo opportunities in the months and years to come, especially summer. Better all such dead and dangerous trees come down as soon as possible. Around this way they do tree checks periodically to save accidents, especially on older and bigger trees. Hopefully your compound will be safe for years to come.
Have a lovely, and hopefully, snow free week.

  2. Well boys, it's taking a long time to get those trees cleaned up hasn't it. I bet that was exciting but noisy. Maybe all those honey bees are the ones that were here this Summer that Lynn kept feeding sugar water too.

My word but there's been so much to clear up, eh? Very satisfying to see it getting done though. You both look good on the stump...what's that, snow???? We had a fall on the hightops last week, but there is just lots of very icy rain coming down on The Grey at the moment. Winter is definitely signalling its approach! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx

  6. You two are so cute exploring those logs and stumps. It's fun to pose on tree stumps. We have one in our yard that Millie and I loved to pose on.

  14. Lulu: "Victory is what you declare it to be, right? I salute you for triumphing over those old beehives!"
Java Bean: "Ayyy, you never know! The bees might've been planning a return any moment!"
Charlee: "That's a bummer about the Chewy box, especially since, as dogs, you can't even entertain yourselves by sitting in it. Which is 100% what we cats would be doing right now."
Chaplin: "We never let a Chewy box go unused!"
