Its been quite a week here. We had cold weather, wind, rain and hot weather, (84F), and excitement. Saturday night (as we woof theses stories), we have a frost advisory! Brrr!
Yes indeed, excitement!

Opossum...thanks Google Images!
She turned off the lights and went back inside...after about an hour, she still didn't let us out, but went back there to check on Mr/Ms Possum and it was gone. Phew. She likes possums cause they are peaceful critters, and they eat a lot of bad bugs, like ticks and such.
We were allowed back out, went to sniff at where the possum had been, and it not being there just went back inside to dream of it, BOL!

This is the only 'possum' we are allowed to wrassle and bite...
I, Dalton love to 'help' petcretary when she is squatting down to pull out weeds, right now she's yanking out as many of the bittercress she sees...its invading our yard big time...even though it is not toxic and is edible, she hates seeing it all over the place, like an infestation. She also pulls out any garlic mustard she sees, that is an invasive species...plus any young weeds that make 'stickons'. Anyways, I help her by getting into her face to beg for scritches and trying to wash the sweat off of her face,. I have no idea why she tries to stop me from these loving, helpful gestures, BOL!
Our tulips, well the one clump that survived the onslaught of hungry squirrels, bloomed and showed off their beauty for us!

The weeping cherry tree is now well past it's prime...having had to deal with wind, rain and that hot weather...so now we have pinkish 'snow' and confetti everywhere!

Weeping Cherry Tree, well past its prime in bloom! That's our pawppy, by the way...
Now three of the four redbud trees that were planted in the fall are blooming. Maybe in a few years they'll give some light shade to our patio. (the fourth, planted in a different place, is alive but no blooms...hopefully maybe next year.)

Redbud Blossoms - They look like little sweet peas, indeed this tree makes pods like peapods after blooming!
The violas are blooming here and there throughout our yard so pretty. And the bleeding heart plant is starting to get lots of buds. The periwinkle ground cover is in bloom, too.

We had our first of the year encounter with that noisy machine that makes our grass a lot shorter...that is a three hour job, but this time we didn't try to bark and bite at the wheels...we must be getting used to it after all the years we've seen/heard it!
And wonder of wonders, petcretary said it didn't cause any trouble with her wrist. She is almost at the end of her time off work, and has one more therapy session. And of course daily exercises to do.
OK, here we are for our selfies, and also an ussie!

All the flowers in your garden are gawjuss - how wonderful to have tulips already! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Lovely selfies! And the possum looks furry cute too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden you have!
Those are great selfies! And seeing that possum must have been exciting! But he wouldn't be much fun to play with. This weather sure has been wacky! Let's hope it gets on the right track soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy that the possum got away unharmed! Your flowers are so pretty and the Redbud tree is one of mom's favorites! Great selfies and ussies, guys!
ReplyDeleteWe absolutely love the selfies. And here we like possums too. When I go out on my patio in the dark of the morning I look and look but so far the only time I've seen possum is from inside the house. I had raccoon and bunny rabbit but all from inside the house. I guess they know better than to walk past me since I'm such a fierce cat. We love we love seeing the flowers and when Lynn went to the grocery this morning there was frost on the rooftop.
ReplyDeleteYou fellas are adorable!
ReplyDeleteOpossums are good for the environment, but they have really bad eyesight so they can wander right into trouble easily.
Good thing the one in your yard made it away to be a productive member of society.
You two sure have had a busy week. We love all the flowers in your yard. Your selfies are as adorable as ever.

Possums are SO cute!!!
ReplyDeleteLots and lots of beautiful flowers and trees. About that opossum - Mom always laughs when she hears stories about opossums. Many years ago, Angel Thunder and Angel Ciara were headed out for a walk with Mom. They both insisted they had to go near the big fir tree next to the garage. They both had their heads stuck way under the tree and lo and behold, they pulled out a big whopping opossum. One had the tail end and the other the head. It startled Mom and she yelled at them to "leave it". Surprisingly enough, they dropped the critter. The silly opossum very slowly moved across the driveway and went away. It was quite the experience for Mom.
