Springtime And A Guest!

It is surely if slowly getting to be spring in our area...A whole week without snow! We even had some sunny days. But as this is being written, we have a rainy day. Oh well, the flowers to be need it!And while petcretary was at her work, it SNOWED! Huge fluffy flakes swirling in the strong winds we were having...but at least it all melted as it hit the ground...too warm at ground level. Sheesh...But when she was on her way home, it was very clear and she could see all the stars and visible planets.

On Friday, petcretary saw this dude checking out our feeders...an uncommon and rare sight around here, they prefer the real woods...

This is a Pileated Woodpecker, aka Woody'! Sorry for the poor quality, it was taken through a screened window...and then he was gone!

Other signs of spring in our yard:

Tulips

Snowdrops

Perwinkle Purple! That works for The Annual Purple Day for Epilepsy This is hosted each year as a blog hop by 5 Sibs.

Taken at 1030pm, so the lighting did strange things to Benji...

Looks much better in Black and White!

Dalton found some daffodils trying to show up...the background was very messy, so we took it out...
Look! I found some daffodils!

Now you can see the daffodils, and I, Dalton thought I looked good in a mountainous region...BOL!

We are springing and hopping in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop, hosted by The Cat On My Head. Thanks Kitties Blue!

  1. It is nice to see the spring flowers coming up. We get a lot of woodpeckers here. The Green Woodpecker is the gardeners friend. If he finds an ants nest he will completely clear it. The Greater spotted is the noisy one who spends all day rat tat tatting on the trees and likes the bird feeders as does the smaller Lesser Spotted one. Lovely selfies from both of you.

    1. That is a Pileated Woodpecker; he's quite large, the largest of our local woodpeckers and while not rare, its uncommon to see them in a yard as compared to say, a forest.

We are looking forward to Spring, but today is not Spring like. We are getting some snow but mum says ot will not last as the rest of the week is warmer and sunny. I just hope the sun brings some tasty grass!

  10. I love yoor selfies! And I think yoo look beautiful in color, Benji. Years ago my momma rescued a Pileated Woodpecker when he crashed into our garage roof and fell unconscious. She wrapped him in a blanket and put him in a box, and sat over him for almost an hour before he came too and felt ready to go back out in to the world. He was huge! But obviously kinda dumb to fly into a garage roof.

  12. SNOWDROPS! Apparently we don't get them here because it does not get cold enough for long enough (a bit n the South Island but not further North!) so what a treat to see!!!

  15. We had some really high winds lately, complete with fallen trees a few blocks from our house. Now we have wet snow falling. Typical for WNY this time of year. We do have a few little daffodils growing, though. Stay warm, pups! Hopefully we'll get some spring weather soon!

  17. I swear! I know I've said it before, but I love your two boys. There is something in their faces that makes me smile and read what they have to say. Every time. We had a nother tornado warning in the middle of the night...second weekend in a row. The wind is blowing very hard right now but the sum is out and the temp is 73F. We have had rain at least 2/3's pf every week for years. High winds seem to have dug in its heels here so we're dealing with that too.
