After a few amazing days..the March Lion struck here with a big roar on March third...with ice, wind and about 7 inches of heavy wet snow. What a mess...and just over a week ago we were dealing with all the power outages from that terrible ice storm. Sheesh. Talk about yo-yo weather. Our snowdrops were beginning to bloom...such a welcome sight, and the tulips were coming up, as well the tips of the daffodil leaves, but they all got buried and none were visible. Petcretary was out on errands before that storm started, but when she got back home (safely!), it was dark and the snow was deep...and crunchy, and when the wind whipped it up, it stung on her face. Us pups were not amused to woof the least.
She got a couple of bad pictures from inside her vehicle but Saturday morning, when she got up, the sun was already bright and the temp was about 41F. So the thick coating of icy snow was almost gone from the fence and trees. It was a horrible mess to shovel, as the snow thrower decided it could not deal with the packed up stuff, it acted like a giant shovel, building up huge piles. So the regular shovel did a much better job...except it was very heavy work. Good thing petcretary can still do that, she is used to heavy lifting from her work at the nursing home. Pawppy is good with the snow thrower, but since he had that back and hip surgery, he shouldn't be shoveling...its time for us peeps to look into a snow removal service, LOL!
These snow images were taken in the dark, so the lighter ones were 'enhanced' to reveal more detail.

Wow, we have a new privacy fence??
|
|
View from the drive way, to across the street. Pink tones from the car's rear lights, which are red...

|
More pinkness on the dogwood and fence.

This image was made to be B & W, and now you can 'see' the darkness and all the whirling snow.It was NOT fun driving in that...
|
Well here we are, too...but dry and warm, BOL!
|
Hi, Petcretary...whoa, that is a really close close up!!
|
|
I am really tired after running through all that deep snow...but thanks for the treat!! Don't worry, Benji got one too!

We are sorry if we have not visited you in a while. It seems each time she sits down to do that, she gets a few under her belt, and then she has to stop, for any number of reasons...sure, excuses, excuses...but we have not forgotten our furends, we are just very behind...if we miss some, its because we are trying to get caught up!
Don’t stress about visiting we are just glad you are OK!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you all are safe. Over here we had heavy thunderstorms that resulted in some areas being flooded but we were not affected. Purrs and hugs to you all.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a winter you're having! That is quite the privacy fence! I'm sure you are more than ready for Spring!
ReplyDeleteGee! That looks like the snow we had! Ours was light and easy to move.
ReplyDeleteAt least we are in the month that brings Spring!
Purrs, Julie
Sorry about all the ice and snow and cold and wind and so happy that you’re both inside nice and warm. I do hope spring will come and do away with all of it soon for all of you. I must say I love the photos that are moving like the snow blowing and the last one with the big beautiful yawn hugs to all of you
ReplyDeleteYou poor darlings! All that snow and ice! Brrrrrr! You had better head on over here, if you have a Transportation Device. It's 29 degrees Celsius in Jerusalem today. You are welcome to come and enjoy the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteThe weather sure has been crazy lately. We got some of that heavy wet snow here too. It's cool how it stuck to your fence. You both look great in your selfies.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you are all safe and warm. We've had the same up and down weather too, but not as severe. Meowmie used her shovel to push the slush off the driveway as far as it would go and then it was a weight lifting exercise. The poor birdies have been very confused -- one day thinking its spring and where's my mate and the next diving for the bird feeders and hiding from the weather. March madness is certainly here!

Holy snowflake, Batman! Wind and snow is the worst combination. We hope you guys remain cozy and safe indoors. Your 'privacy' fence pic tells the whole story!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are all keeping safe. Spring needs to give winter a good shove!
ReplyDeleteThat same storm hit us, however we received less snow and more rain than others in our area.
ReplyDeleteThe road crew through up great chunks of frozen snow at the bottom of the driveway: that was some tough, heavy shoveling!
And today the sun shines, and we'll hope that a lot of the white stuff melts away.
We retained power during this storm, but my sister and family went powerless after the storm, and it hasn't yet been restored NOR is there a ETA on when they'll be back online. Bummer.
Stay warm and safe. Your "new" fence is pawsome.
ReplyDeleteThose are very cute selfies you two but oh my goodness, the snow and the ice looks terrible. I hope there is lots of warm headed your way.
ReplyDeleteHope ya get some warm weather headed your way!
ReplyDeleteSnow is pretty, but it can also be a pain!!!
ReplyDeleteFresh snow is so pretty. Used snow is gross.
ReplyDeleteWell, winter sure has struck here! We were pretty fortunate that it wasn’t too bad here and we didn’t lose power.
ReplyDeleteoh my ... the lion turned into a polar bear huh? we hope miss spring can help out soon ;O)
ReplyDeleteThose are great photos, much enjoyed by those of us who don't have to do the snow shovelling...
ReplyDeleteThe March lion is scheduled to arrive here in Scotland today, a few days late!
That looks like quite the storm. It's nice to have a warm and cozy home, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWoofs,
Ollie
Lulu: "Look at all that snow! I think all the snow that we were supposed to get in our yard ended up in your yard!"
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "That news article about 'snow at low elevations' really got you all confused, didn't it, Lulu?"
Lulu: "I guess it's more wishful thinking than confusion but yeah."
The snow can be so beautiful … as long as you don't have to drive in it! That's one of the reasons I decided to retire from my job. I couldn't stand the idea of driving home after an evening shift in a blizzard on unplowed country roads! I hope that's of the last of the big winter storms for you.
ReplyDeleteMost of my drive is on a minor highway, so its usually just bad, not horrible, LOL.
DeleteI take the pretty back roads to my work, in good weather, but always go home on the highway, as its wider and while there may be deer, there are way more on the very dark back roads.
That fence looks just pawsome, Dalton and Benji. You should make a puzzle out of it, we bet that it's going to be a tough one...MOL...what bad weather, huh...We're in a storm again and snow is on its way🙈☃ You both look cute in yourSeflies, sweeties, but don't worry about not visiting, we're thinking of you anyway and see you when you get there♪♫♪ ;) Double Pawkisses from us to all of you and Be safe 🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteGood idea , I will try to remember to do that puzzle thing next time. HHope your bad weather won't be too awful.
DeleteThe picture of the fence looks very artistic ! Fortunately when snow is announced here, there are 3 snowflakes dropping from the sky, but they announce a snow storm a week before ! My weatherman(miss) is Rosie, she is very reliable, when she washes behind her ears, it rains or snows, depends the season.

DeleteWOW! I'm not going to complain about our cold weather (until the next time). What a mess! Our Peep always tell me that shovelling the white stuff is a terrific cardio workout! Love the shots of the boys! Especially of Dalton! And we are purrticularly bad at getting Mom to pick up her laptop and comment (or write for us). She is more interested in painting pictures...go figure. Stay warm and happy! Keep being awesome! Purrs Marvelous Marv
ReplyDeleteShoveling snow is also a good strength training...I always say, I don't go to the gym...I go to work, (in a nursing home)...and I workout in the yard. Lawn mowing here takes from 3 - 6 hours depending how much I do...its all with a selfpropelled walk-behind mower.
DeleteOMDs I have never ever in all my years seen such artistic snow. WOW. That was amazing
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for a nice romp followed by a snack and a nap
Hugs Cecilia
You know, Minds Eye is right! Artistic snow. I wouldn't have thought of that phrasing in a hundred years. Because that is just the right way to describe it. I am unable to go out and shovel any more than the lightest fall..and boy where the mailman needs to walk. For driving, I live on the highest hill of a mountainous town! Gettin to the main roads is a straight trip down. So, don't do that unless I or Katie are deathly ill. Your pictures are super. And you two woofies, don't you and Katie and other sweeties who have mom's and pop's, have it made.?
