The day we have planned for and anticipated for weeks already...it's here!
So all the needed groceries and decor were gathered in...and then...well, the weather decided to have its say, too...with a temper tantrum!
We are in the midst of a winter storm warning, the winds are awful, roaring around like an angry lion, and whipping the snow around like piercing bits of ice. (this all started yesterday)
But...we are all safe, warm and dry in our house, which the weather wolf has not been able to blow down, LOL! So far our immediate area still has all power, though some areas to the west of us nearer to the lakeshore have lost it, We pray they have means to stay warm, and hope they get their power back on soon.
We cancelled our Church service, and told the unfur-bros not to come over; risking their lives to drive in bad conditions is silly...so Petcretary and Pawppy will have a quiet day together with us pups, and make a bit of a festive meal, in a simpler fashion than if the unfur-bros were here. We will try to get together next week sometime, weather permitting!
So far there is about 2 inches of snow on the ground...and ice pellets are part of that, too. the forecast calls for up to as much as 8 inches when it dies out...can't be soon enough, Petcretary has to go to her work tomorrow. (Why do the days she picks to work always end up being problematic one way or another??)
The bird feeders are filled, so all of those feathered friends of ours (sorry Tabbies) will have a good Thanksgiving, too.
We as a family are thankful to be able to have this celebration, it's good to recognize everything that we are thankful for. Our home, decent health, good food, and so many innumerable others, so often taken for granted!
Here are our two 'official' greetings for you, those of Blogville, our friends, for whom we are very thankful.

we hope the roaring lion disappears and the weather is a little better... have a happy thanksgiving day
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving Day to all of you. I am sorry the weather has curtailed the family get together, but safety is more important. I hope you don't lose power.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the weather and I hope you keep your power. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
ReplyDeleteWe here don't celebrate Thanksgiving here, our ancestors stayed in Europe. Most of the residents don't even know about Thanksgiving. When it comes to celebrations (except funerals) I am always ready. Nice to be in a house which protects you from storm and wind ! You look very festive !
ReplyDeleteI wish you a Happy Thanksgiving for all four. Sorry that plans had to be canceled due to nasty weather. And to be having 8 inches this early in the year, that's just rotten. May the Petcretary have a very safe drive tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteThe best laid plans are never a guarantee when weather is factored in! Nevertheless, it sounds as if you are going to have a fine day, regardless, sitting with each other in warmth, love and gratitude. I hope that snow doesn't keep the other family members away for too long. Have a peaceful and tasty day. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
We know your side of the state is getting worse weather than us. Stay safe! And Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving, and what The Island Cats commented, 'cause we are both in the Metro Detroit area sorta kinda.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you boys and your parents. Sorry to hear the weather is bad but we hope you get some tasty snacks today anyway.
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Happy Thanksgiving to all of us from all of you!"
ReplyDeleteChaplin: "We are glad you and your family are staying safe and warm during the storm!"
Sorry you are getting bad weather. Happy Thanksgiving! XO
ReplyDeleteEven when things don't go as we plan, there's much to be thankful for. Hope you're having a purrfect Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad the unfur brothers couldn't come today, but I pray you are all having a blessed and beautiful Happy Thanksgiving anyway, and you have a great get-together next week!
ReplyDeleteWe hope you stayed safe while snow surrounded your Thanksgiving and pray the next get together can come together soon for a full celebration.
ReplyDeleteWe are thankful that you guys are safe and warm. We are hoping that the highway guys get the roads cleared so your Peep gets safely to work too! We too have had winter come up and bite us this week! Stay safe and warm.
