Petcretary and I, MJF, were out in the back woodsy area of our yard...when we spied this huge fungus!
|
It sure kind of looks like a exotic flower, OMD!!! |
|
I decided it was a good spot to make a selfie, BOL! |
Pipo was just enjoying a sunny place and felt he was not going to let himself be a selfie...because he did not want to be interrupted...so ....
|
this is a sort of not looking too selfie-ish, MOL! |
We made lots of picture cards and mementos this past week:
There were some spawsial occasions:
The above three kitties are from
Mickey's Musings
There were some sad times too...sheesh, there sure are a lot of new angels lately. We think its about time that a 'no vacancy' sign is placed at the doors to the Rainbow Bridge.
Anypaws, here are the mementos we sent to the furmilies of these precious new angels.
|
Andrea
Kenner's precious boy, Beckham, journeyed to the bridge on July 7.
Beckham would have turned 14 this summer and has lived with Andrea
since he was a kitten. He can be found here: BECKHAM
|
If you want to snag any of those mementos/cards; feel free to do so.
It has indeed been a sad week, and many friends moved over. Looks like you have all found your own right places to be for your selfies, sort of selfies. Me, I think I'm with Pipo on my location, though if that was a Nip fungus then I'd be happy to be out in the woods too. MOL
ReplyDeleteERin
MOL, Erin!
DeleteNip fungus indeed...its known as some kind of a chicken of the forest fungus...go figure!
Yes, there are many sad hearts in the blogging world as we know it.

Hi, Sid-Henry!
DeleteThanks for your kind thoughts for those who mourn.
Glad you liked your card, too.
That fungus is known as a Chicken of the Forest fungus...eeuuwww!
Wow, what a huge fungus!! Maybe you could earn big $$ if you get your wonderful dog nose trained to find mushrooms?
ReplyDeleteHah! Well, it is supposed to be an edible thing...but um...petcretary says no thanks! Sometimes there are giant puffballs and morels out there...they might get in her noms...mrels bring in big $$, hmmm, maybe I should! Wrong season though, BOL!
DeleteThose are lovely cards you made for birthdays, Gotcha Days and in memory. I am sad that so many more friends are going to the Bridge.
ReplyDeleteThanks, We think there needs to be a huge no vacancy sign there.
DeleteLee and I think that looks like roasted cauliflower which we love to eat. We bet Raz will miss Ellie like Pipo must be lonely also.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being a friend
Sweet William The Scot
Roasted cauliflower...YUM! Roasted/sauteed, Chicken of the Forest fungus...pass...
DeleteYes, there are some lonely hearts of late.
That is some kind of fancy fungus. Thanks so much for including our Gertrude in the Memory cards. Those cards are really nice. You all have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteThat fungus is this...we think:
DeleteScientific name: Laetiporus
Rank: Genus
Higher classification: Polyporaceae
Order: Polyporales
Family: Fomitopsidaceae
Class: Agaricomycetes
Aka: Chicken of the Forest Fungus
Hugs to you and your furmily, we know how much it hurts when you have to say goodbye.
Thank you so much for dedicating your post to our sweet Ellie and for the beautiful badge for her. We think somebuddy needs to close the doors to the Bridge.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids and Mom Sharon
You are welcome. Not only close the gates, but lock them and hang up the no vacancy sign.
DeleteHugs ♥
Thanks for sharing all the beautiful birthday wishes. That was nice of you to dedicate the post to Ellie - what a beautiful soul she was.
ReplyDeleteAbby Lab
Thank you. All these Angels are beautiful, sweet and sorely missed.
DeleteVery nice selfies MJF and cute photos of Pipo too. You make beautiful cards, there were a lit of celebrations as well as sadness this week. XO
ReplyDeleteThank you. Sometimes there are a lot to make, but it is both good therapy and a diversion for petcretary. (and it keeps her out of mischief, too, MOL!)
DeleteCrikey Mr JF Sir ..... were there any fairies at home in your humungous fungus? It sure look like a fairy home, aye?? I like your selfies. You sure are looking good and so is Pipo.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlie.
DeleteThere were some little black fairy-flies on it...but after a rain storm and really warm weather, it tuned to mush...and there were clouds of fungus gnats...not the dwelling place of fairies I think, BOL!
That is a very big and colorful fungus! Great selfies and cards
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe have been losing way too many kitties in the blogosphere lately. :-(
ReplyDeleteThat is true, and we hate it so much. It stinks.
Deletethat fungus looks interesting... a little like a rose... or something you can eat... and I would try to eat it... there is nearly nothing what lands not in my mouth (said the mama). A big hugs to all friends who are sad for losing a furfriend... and another big hug to all who celebrate a gotcha day or a birthday...
ReplyDeleteWell, it is edible...but ya have to cook it first. Believe it or not, it is known as Chicken of the Forest. Sheesh!!
DeleteBig hugs to you and yours, too, Phenny.
Oh the fungi was totally amazing. WOW!! Thanks for showing us the or I might not have believed you at all!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so sad we lost buddies this week. So sad, and I heard we lost Punipupirri as well.
Why are the gates to RB Land still open anyways??
DeleteThat fungus just appeared and in two days it was a big mushy jelly like mess! EUWW!
Wow! That's one heck of a mushroom!
ReplyDeleteIt's so sad about all those kitties passing. But happy birthday/gotcha day to all the others!
Petcretary snooped in google-land and found out this info.
DeleteIts known as Chicken of the Forest Fungus, and this it the science of it:
Scientific name: Laetiporus
Rank: Genus
Higher classification: Polyporaceae
Order: Polyporales
Family: Fomitopsidaceae
Class: Agaricomycetes
Way too many new angel furs of late:(
Wow that fungus is HUGE but it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Be careful not to eat it!!
ReplyDeleteDakotasDen

DeleteThose aliens sure didn't want to take it with them ...because its called a Chicken of the Forest fungus...uh-huh, it is...
There's a fungus among us! MOL! We just had to say that! That is one interesting looking fungus. We've never seen anything like that. Great selfies, even if Pipo didn't want to wake up.
ReplyDeleteMOL! You made us giggle!
DeleteNever eat a fungus that doesnt come from a grocery store!
ReplyDeleteSeparately, there have been too many friends leaving for the Bridge lately. Some months are hard...
Though we researched this thing and its called a Chicken of the Forest fungus...and when properly cooked it is edible...tastes like chicken...but we are not going to take any chances...
DeleteHere is the science about this thing:
Scientific name: Laetiporus
Rank: Genus
Higher classification: Polyporaceae
Order: Polyporales
Family: Fomitopsidaceae
Class: Agaricomycetes
They need to lock the doors there and get rid of the key. Aren't they full enough yet??? Sheesh:(
This week's cards are so beautiful, especially that birthday card for Siddhartha Henry. We love how you included the chipmunks. We agree, a no vacancy sign at the RB is in order. Beckham was Mau's friend at Cat Scouts. Mom would like to know if she can post your card there. Beckham hadn't been at Scouts in a while, but everyone has been leaving nice messages for his family. Sorry Pipo didn't want to take a selfie today. MJF, you certainly look adorable in your photos. We had some of those fungi in our yard last year, but we haven't seen any this year. They are super cool looking. Thanks so much for hopping. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Those fungi are called Chicken of the Forest, MOL!
DeleteI will email you about Beckham...

There were happy and sad times here in the land of blogging, the full life circle in action...but sadness for those who had to say goodbye.
