We are one day after a furry spawsial July First - Canada Day...Canada became 150 years old yesterday! Wow! Petcretary is ancient, and she remembers clearly the same day 50 years ago when Canada became 100 years...1967.
And in a few more days, America will have a birthday too, Independence Day, aka The Fourth Of July.
Petcretary has lived about half of her life in both countries, she is a born Canadian, and when she got married, she moved to the USA. And our unfurbros have citizenship to both countries.
Anypaws, we made some pictures to commemorate this day a bit ahead of time:)
This image was made, a few days before Minko became an Angel Kitty, but we still wanted to post it in our blog. |
Our Doggy Cousin Eddie, also made some furbulous pictures for Canada Day, since he lives there. He sure has gotten bigger than when we first saw him here!
Eddie sure knows how to dogabrate! |
And a few memories to honor our dear brofur, Angel-Minko....
We are doing celebratory hopping today along with The Cat On My Head, who hosts this weekly feature |

Yup...Toronto General Hospital! Her peeps lived close by on Adelaide Street. That was 887 years ago or something like that.
DeleteThanks and we hope you had a fine Canada Day, too.
Those are lovely selfies for Canada Day and 4th July. Those are sweet photos in memory of Angel Minko.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA sincere and very warm wish to you all, and Angel Minko too, for the most wonderful Canada Day and 4th July celebrations.
ReplyDeleteGentle and loving purrs.
ERin
Thanks Erin.
DeletePipo and MJF, you took some terrific selfies. We don't think any of our other anipals can compete. Eddie was adorable as well, especially with the flag in his mouth. Thanks for sharing the badge with Minko on it as well as his patriotic selfies. Such a handsome angel boy. We hope your grief is subsiding a bit. Sending lots of love and thanks for hopping. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy
ReplyDeleteThank so much, Kitties Blue.
DeleteYears ago, Dog-guy held flags, too, among other things...but being as he is kind of slow and not too interested in 'posing' or even to get a treat for t, petcretary is keeping things simple for him.
We are gradually trying to feel a bit more ordinary here...but, well, you know how it is:(
Minko seems to be thought about in evfurry place in our den.
Happy Canada Day and happy Fourth of July!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteThanks! We sure hope so too.
DeleteHappy Canada Day. We saw a bunch of people on TV that were dressed in red and made a Maple leaf in the street! It was neat!
ReplyDeleteThat would have been a sight to behold! We didn't see anything about Canada on TV around here...but they did have some music for it on the radio:)
Deleteyou look beutiful! happy Catnada Day to all peeps and pets and a Happy 4th of july to all in the land of the free.

Crikey Mr JF Sir ..... I was looking at this and thinking how great you all looked dressed up for your special days and then I got to the part about ANGEL Minko. Oh No!!!!!!! I must have been in the slammer and missed this. I'm so very sorry to hear about Minko. Dear sweet, Minko. You must really be missing him. My love and hugs to you all!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlie. Yes I think you were kind of AWOL...slammer time is sort of like that, as Pipo recalls...
DeleteWe do miss sweet Minko...w]even though sometimes he was quite a rascal. Those are the things that you miss the most - the things you always grumbled about...go figure.
It's been a great weekend for celebrations! It seems like in between Canada and the 4th of July is National Lawn Mower Day. I think every one of our neighbors is running their mowers! Noisy!
ReplyDeleteYup, we had a mower festival around here too.

DeleteHappy (Belated) Canada Day! AND Happy Independence Day!!!
ReplyDeleteWe love you Mr Jack Frekles and Pipo all dressed in your celebration finery and Angel Minko! So special (I have tears in my eyes) and your cousin Eddie is getting HUGE!!!
BTW I too remember the Centennial! We took the train from Calgary to Montreal to visit my cousins and see Expo 67 in Montreal.
Remember this ditty?
Ca-Na-Da (I little 2 little 3 little Canadians)
We Love You! (Now we are 20 million!)
Ca-Na-Da!
Love Barb
Hi, Barb.
DeleteUs ladies are older than dirt, MOL!
I was still in grade school then, grade 7, to be exact. I remember being bummed cause the 8th graders went on a filed trip to Montreal...
I don't recall that lil ditty, though I think I know the tune...and nowadays that song in the original would be considered politically incorrect, MOL!
Happy Canada Day and Happy 150th! and hope you had a furtabulous 4th. You guys are sure looking spiffy handsome in your celebratory gear. Are you sure you didn't go to modeling school?
ReplyDeletePurrs, Meep
Hi, Meep. We had a great day, until the darkness and the fireworks...sheesh, they need to be delegated to just shows in public parks.
DeleteCan you tell us about modelling school? No wait, we don't want to have more flashybox time...MOL!
WOW, Happy Canada Day late. You all look gorgeous. I love your Canada scarfs. Very spiffy, soft looking and gorgeous. Of course it helps when the subject matters are also gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mario.
DeletePetcretary always looks to obtain things like that on her visits to her sister..cause they are just NOT available here...though she thinks you might be able to find some American things in Canada...yup, thats how things are:)
We are (something of an understatement) Late.
ReplyDeleteWe want to wish all Canadians a happy 150th - we love all of our Canadian friends and feel they can hold up their heads as a fine nation, in a troubled world. I was nearly a Canadian but mum lost her nerve and we didn't emigrate. Happy Birthday.
Our compliments too on some lovely pictures this time around. Absolutely beautiful.
Petcretary's pawrents came from The Netherlands way back in the early 1950's. She is a first generation Canadian, now a transplant in the USA...her pawrents almost had decided to go to Australia...now that might have had an interesting tale...Canada is a most beautiful land, and petcretary has hardly seen any of it, besides the east and west coasts, and southern Ontario...the inbetween part? Only from airplanes, MOL!
DeleteMaybe when pawppy retires we might just get one of those dens on wheels and travel the highways and byways of our lands. At least that is on *her* bucket list...
