Photo Contest Ussies

Our local pet shop had a photo contest with photo fundraising sessions over two Saturdays to raise funds for two rescues that work in our county/city.

So last Saturday and yesterday we got put into our 'seatbelts' and off we went to support our local rescue groups, one of which is the one where Dalton came from, after being pulled from a high kill shelter in Texas...(Benji also came from Texas but not till almost a year after Dalton.)

On October 18th, we were Lambchop(s), and we dedicate this fun picture to petcretary's new Great Nephew, who just became one month old, a sweet little lamb he is....

On Oct 24th we were Tawny-Scrawny Lion, with seasonal decor, BOL!

One of these pictures won all around best picture in the contest! So we swon a gift certificate to use in the pet shop! How cool is that!?! Then we got back in the car to go home...and to be naked once again...which we find the best costume of all!
We got tasty treats, as all lions should, BOL!

I need to get back in the yard to snoopervise everything there.
We missed Tocktober so here we are showing off our belated tocks...
I am watching the neighbors do yard work...
I will not show off my tocks, sheesh, I am too modest for that, BOL!

Does anyone know what kind of squash or gourds these are, or even if they are edible? They all came from one huge volunteer plant in the back of our yard, where last year we had burned up a lot of yard debris.

We are joined with many others in the Sunday Selfies Blog Hop! It's always hosted by  The Cat On My Head! Thanks Kitties Blue!

In The Car Selfies

We got loaded into the car for an adventure...we'll tell you about it some other day...

It's been a whirlwind of a week for petcretary...but we got through it, and hopefully the coming week will be a bit slower paced...yup, as if!

It's turned 'fallish' too, and now a lot of trees are looking very pretty in their fall garments.

This is a picture of our friend closing the gate before he takes off with a load of logs he's cut up...the board is needed to keep us from trying to get through the rather wide gap in between the gate 'doors'.
I love to smile like this when I know we are going HOME!
I am thinking how nice it will be when I can get out of this harness and romp and dig in our yard...

We're hopping along with many other Sunday Selfies at The Cat On My Head, the hosts of this fun hop. Thanks Kitties Blue!

Happy Thanksgiving For Canadians

Petcretary is Canadian, so today is Thanksgiving!

She will call up her relatives to wish them a Happy Thanksgiving as well.

Beaver and Moose are enjoying their traditional Thanksgiving dinner

These turkey's in our neighbor's yard had best be careful...
Ca Oct 2021

Have a great holiday...that is if you live where they are having one, BOL! And be thankful!

It's also a holiday in the USA, used to be called Columbus Day, but, who knows what the official name is these days...but we just stick with the Canadian version, its nice to have 2 Thanksgivings each year, BOL!

Tree Wranglers

There has been a lot of progress made in our yard this past week. Our friend who comes for an hour or two most days has been working hard back there. However one morning he came and didn't let us know...and he forgot to close the gate after he came through with his truck. OOPS! We got all excited and barked fiercely at him...and by the time petcretary came out to shut that gate, she didn't see us...she called us and whistled for us...and we came a running from the field across the street...wait, what??? *She* about had a heart attack, but we came right back into our yard...of course we have not been to kindergarten, and didn't look both ways before we ran across the street...thankfully no vehicles were coming...(and we are in a 55mph zone on our country road). Phew!! She didn't scold us, because we DID come right back when we were called...but she did go and remind our friend to CLOSE that gate and not to forget to warn her ahead of time so she can keep us inside while he is here...he doesn't need any canine help back there...and what if something would fall on us?

Anyways, after he's done we get to inspect the job site...and the huge tree that snapped off with the beehive inside of it; well, it's been cut up and now no longer is hanging in the other trees. Benji started sniffing and jumping on the downed trunk...and was even biting and chewing on it! Dalton was trying to help him, but being a lot smaller he had to work a lot harder to get anywhere near what Benji was 'working' at.

The next day our friend cleaned up what had been such an intriguing thing...and now the 'fun' is gone...oh well, so then Benji went and dug a huge mole out of the yard...sigh...petcretary found said mole and gave it a 'funeral'...

Oct 9, 2025 Slow but steady progress.

Dalton: I wonder what he found up there? Petcretary:This is the tree that was taken down in that storm, it broke way up top, and when it fell, it split where the old honeycomb used to be. At least the bees no longer were in it. Woodpeckers found it a good place for bug hunting...alas, they will have to go elsewhere now...like to our bird feeders!

But I found something very interesting too.

Hey that was my hole!
Benji:I am checking out the other side of this trunk, maybe it will be more fun than where I just was.

Dalton: I'm coming to help you, Benji.

We need to make a plan...

Dalton: I wish I was bigger so I could help Benji better.

Benji: This may be Dalton's hole, but I find it more fun than the other part of this trunk.

I wonder who was living in this hole.

Yes indeed, this hole has good sniffs...

You mean our friend is going to take this away??

But...but, it was so much fun trying to get rid of the old honeycomb and sniffing that hole...
Yes, indeed, the day after these pictures were taken our friend did come and now most of this big split up tree trunk is gone along with most of the honeycomb remains...

Sadly, earlier this week, MessyMimi had to say goodbye to her Tripod, quite soon after she lost her Sissy. So we sent her this memento in her honor:

Thankful For The Memory Of New Angels

Once again there are new Angels to honor, and to be thankful for all the happy memories they gave to those who knew and loved them.

Both of these Angels came from the same family...Life At  Golden Pines.

First Ms Kim said goodby to Tiggy, a very handsome Meezer, which of course had petcretary thinking a lot about ours, esp Pipo.

Anyways here is the memento we helped make to honor him.

Tiggy...click here to see the post about him

And shortly after Tiggy flew away, Ms Kim had to do the same for Marley.

Marley...the post about him is here.

We are joining up with The Thankful Thursday at Brian's Home Forever...

On a thankful aside, we are thankful that we had a good rain a couple of days ago, and also that now the hots are gone. It is so refreshing to go outside and not sweat buckets! In fact we have a freeze warning for tonight (Wed to Thurs), so we are also thankful that we could move all our patio pots and get them covered to extend their beauty for a while longer.

We Are Back...New Angels Didn't Wait...

Yes, here we are once again. Hooray!

We had to go to doggy Jail for 87 million days when Petcretary went AWOL to go and take care of our Auntie, who had a knee replacement on Sept 19th...(She is doing well, by the way, and petcretary came home again after she knew that Auntie would be okay on her own, once again.)

While she was there on Sept 24th, petcretary and Auntie became Great Aunts to a sweet little lamb of a baby boy! And our uncle became a grandpa! Petcretary says that makes her feel old, BOL!!

The day after her return she came and sprung us out of doggy jail....thank dogness! The peeps there told us that we did well, even for so many days.

We did miss some special days on the blogville calendar, but ah, well, it's all good cause everyone is fine and at home again!

So now things are back to normal, more or less...

While there were no dogs to deal with, here, a good friend came and did a LOT of work in our woodsy area and cleaned up a lot of the tree mess; (from the May storm), and the neighbor cut the remaining tree trunks off of the fence, so that now the fence repair can be done. It sure looks a lot better back there, but there are still huge trunks on the ground to be cut up...though none are hanging in other trees, anymore, so no danger of them falling on us or anything else. There are a lot of piles of brush and small limbs to burn...but not yet, as it is far too dry right now...they'll have to wait till we get some rain for the safety of the rest of the standing trees and grounds. (It hasn't rained here since before petcretary left!)

We also saw that there is a new lawn mower here, and it does a great job keeping the grass trimmed...but there is hardly any growth to cut right now due to the lack of rain. It may be fall, according to the calendar, but the weather is more like August, hot during the day, and cooler at night so that the windows are open for fresh air and 'whiffies'.

We were so glad to be home...and we were exhausted, so that the first couple of nights back here we just plopped down in our nests and slept like logs for hours and hours!

Another thing that makes petcretary feel elderly (LOL) is that our unfurbro-the-elder became 35 years old this past week! Wow, how time does fly!

Petcretary was cheating on us while she was at our Auntie...with our doggy cousin, Eddie.

Eddie is such a ham!
Of course you all want to see us, too, right?! So here we are, enjoying a snack:
We got new 'chewies'!

Which we love!

I was all into mine...

Dalton was a bit more 'delicate', BOL!

Dalton was very needy for cuddles....from pawppy...

Benji: Please don't leave us like that, no, not ever again! And why isn't there a treat in *this* bone?

Sadly, while petcretary was out of the loop so to speak, there were several new Angel furries...so here are the mementoes that were done for them in their honor. (in no particular order...)
Astrid, from The Cat On My Head
Sissy Cat, from MessyMimi
Mo, from Melissa's Mochas, Mysteries and Meows
